Dr. David Jakubowicz’s, new President-Elect of the Medical Society of the State of New York

At Essen, we are proud and happy for the remarkable achievement of Dr. David M. Jakubowicz, MD, Essen’s Director of Otolaryngology and Allergy, who has achieved an extraordinary milestone by being elected President-Elect of the Medical Society of the State of New York (MSSNY). When he assumes the presidency in 2025, he'll make history as the first president from Bronx County Medical Society in over half a century.

Dr. Jakubowicz's journey to this esteemed position is marked by a stellar academic and professional trajectory. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Biology from Cornell University and his Doctor of Medicine from New York University School of Medicine. His training continued with an internship in the Department of Surgery at Beth Israel Medical Center (NY) and a residency in the Departments of Otolaryngology at the Albert Einstein affiliated hospitals of Montefiore, Jacobi, Long Island Jewish, and Beth Israel.

His leadership skills were honed through participation in Maimonides' physician leadership program. Subsequently, he was recruited to serve as Chairman of Otolaryngology at Bronx Lebanon and later chaired their OR committee. Dr. Jakubowicz further contributed as Director of Otolaryngology and Allergy at Medalliance Medical Health Services.

A distinguished fellow of the American Academy of Otolaryngologic Allergy, American College of Surgeons, and American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, Dr. Jakubowicz has also made significant contributions to MSSNY. He served in various capacities within the Young Physician Section, including Vice Chair, Chair, and AMA YPS delegate. Additionally, he held roles at all levels of Bronx County, including president, where he facilitated the Executive Director transition. Dr. Jakubowicz also served as MSSNY Commissioner of Membership and is an AMA Alternate Delegate. His dedication and expertise make him an invaluable asset to both Essen and the medical community at large.
During his service in the Young Physician Section of MSSNY, Dr. Jakubowicz served as Vice Chair, Chair and AMA YPS delegate. He has also served at all levels of Bronx County, including as president where he managed the Executive Director transition. Dr Jakubowicz was MSSNY Commissioner of Membership and is an AMA Alternate Delegate.
